Mayor’s Open House Focuses on 50th Anniversary of MLK, Jr. Assassination

Mayor Tari Renner’s Friday, April 6 Open House will focus on the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., an event that took place April 4, 1968. The film The Witness: From the Balcony of Room 309 will be shown and Mayor Renner will host a brief discussion. Time will be allotted for general City questions and concerns from the public after the King presentation concludes.

“Over fifty years after his death, it is important to continue the conversations that Martin Luther King, Jr. sparked,” explains Mayor Renner. “King robustly pursued equality by championing nonviolent resistance. I hope my Mayor’s Open House on this topic will further a positive community dialogue about the opportunities and challenges we face.”

The Open House begins at 4:30 pm in the Fishbowl at City Hall.
