Two Arrested in Stolen Bank Cards and Burglary
Stolen Bank Cards
On Thursday, May 11, 2017, Bloomington Police Patrol Division responded to a store at the mall for two suspicious subjects. The subjects left prior to officers' arrival.
Shortly thereafter, at a local retail establishment parking lot, it was reported the same subjects were in the act of loading a van with a large amount of merchandise purchased using a stolen credit card. The card, along with a purse, had been stolen less than an hour earlier from a car parked at a local park.
Brent A. Heitz, age 37, of Indianapolis, Indiana was arrested for multiple counts of Burglary, Use of Forged Credit/Debit Card over $300, and Theft by Deception.
Desiree D. Gill, AKA: Desiree Jordan, age 37, of Elmwood, Indiana, was arrested for multiple counts of Burglary, Use of Forged Credit/Debit Card over $300, and Theft by Deception.
BPD Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation which linked Heitz and Gill to an additional purse theft, again from an unoccupied vehicle at another local park. This second incident, which took place May 5, 2017, resulted in the loss of over $11,000 in cash and merchandise from a variety of local stores using the stolen bank cards and credit cards. In both incidents, Gill was able to enter local banks and withdraw large sums of money from victim's accounts using their stolen bank cards.
Both Heitz and Gill were transported to the McLean County Jail.
