Parks Master Plan

Public meetings to be held

Post Date:06/27/2017 10:36 AM
Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts (PR&CA) will hold public meetings to collect resident feedback for the development of an updated Citywide Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

The plan will identify the current state of the department’s facilities, collect citizen input on future needs, and identify program trends specific to Bloomington to provide a guide for the City’s actions over the next 15 years.

The plan will include additional components focusing on an O’Neil Park renovation (aquatic facility and park), as well as a recreation center facility, future facility location recommendation, and recommendations for the current Lincoln Leisure Center facility. The previous parks master plan was developed in 1997.

PR&CA will host a series of focus groups with stakeholders as well as three public meetings conducted by GreenPlay, LLC. Participants will be asked to weigh in on the extent to which PR&CA's parks, facilities, programs, and services meet the needs of the community and the community's perception of future needs. Residents will have continued feedback opportunities throughout the process.

Public Meetings Include:

  • O'Neil Park Public Meeting – Tues., July 11th from 6 - 8 p.m. at Sheridan Elementary School
    • This meeting will include a formal presentation at 6:15 p.m. followed by an interactive workshop specific to O’Neil Park and Pool.

  • Master Plan Public Meeting – Thurs., July 13th from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Miller Park Pavilion
    • This meeting will focus on general PR&CA parks, recreation facilities, programs, and services.

  • Recreation Center Public Meeting – Thurs., Aug. 3rd from 6 – 8 p.m. at Miller Park Pavilion
    • This meeting will focus on questions specific to Lincoln Leisure Center and a new recreation facility.
