Hit and Run Arrest

On Monday, August 14, 2017, at approximately 8:39 p.m., Bloomington Police officers responded to the 1400 block of Six Points Road to investigate a Hit and Run accident involving a vehicle versus a bicyclist.

When officers arrived, Bloomington Fire Rescue were already on scene providing medical treatment to a 16-year-old male.

The victim was riding his bicycle on Six Points Road between Morris Avenue and Alexander Road when he was struck by the suspect vehicle.

Witnesses reported seeing a white vehicle driving away from the accident scene.

The male was transported by Bloomington Fire Department to a local hospital for treatment and then Life Flighted to a hospital in Peoria, IL. The male is said to be in critical condition and the family requests privacy at this time.

Bloomington Police Accident Reconstruction Team was dispatched to the scene for the investigation.

On Tuesday, August 15, 2017, members BPD's Patrol, Criminal Investigation Division, Street Crimes Unit, and U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Steven J. Mccuen, age 32, of Bloomington for Failure to Report an Accident with an Injury and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs/Alcohol in connection with the incident.
