BLOOMINGTON SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR ANNUAL HERITAGE AWARDS
BLOOMINGTON, IL–The Annual Heritage Awards is an opportunity for the City of Bloomington to honor residents for their commitment to preserving the unique, historic identity of the City. The City is currently accepting nominations for recipients—those who by their vision, talents and hard work have made an exemplary contribution to the preservation of the City’s built environment and irreplaceable character.
Winners from 2016 include:
- Keith and Diane Thompson for restoration of the Asahel Gridley Mansion located in Bloomington’s Downtown Historic District at 301 E. Grove Street.
- Greg Shaw and Mollie Ward for restoration of the property located at 1104 N Roosevelt Avenue.
- Matthew and Rebecca Spears for restoration of the property located at 901 W. MacArthur Avenue.
- Gaye Beck for adaptive reuse of the former Phoenix Hotel at 312 N. Main Street.
Nomination applications are available on the City’s website at www.cityblm.org. Public and privately owned properties are eligible for an award for exterior improvements.
Winners will be selected by the City of Bloomington Historic Preservation Commission on November 16, 2017.
