Reminder: Heat Requirements & Safety

October 1-May 31

Post Date:12/20/2017 9:50 AM
As the winter months approach, the City of Bloomington reminds residents that building owners must furnish adequate heat to occupants to maintain a room temperature of 68 degrees. This requirement is in place October 1-May 31.

If you are renting a property that does not have sufficient heat as described above, please inform your landlord of this responsibility. If your landlord does not make corrections, please contact Carey Snedden, City of Bloomington Community Development Division Manager, at 309-434-2226.

Additionally, the City reminds residents that cooking appliances and unvented fuel-burning space heaters should never be used to provide adequate heat as doing so can pose serious safety risks.
