Changes in Fees & Collection

Solid waste cart fees will increase from $21.00 per month to $25.00 per month for 65 gallon carts and from $25.00 per month to $29.00 per month for 95 gallon carts on May 1, 2018. Beginning on May 1, 2019, all cart sizes and the Low-Income Refuse Fee (currently $16.00 per month) will increase on an annual basis at a rate of 3 percent.

Free bulk waste collection will occur twice per year, once in spring and once in fall. The 2018 Spring Bulk Waste Collection will be on May 1, 2018. The 2018 Fall Bulk Waste Collection will be on October 1, 2018. Free brush collection will continue every other week on weeks when recycling is not collected.

Also, sanitary sewer, storm water, and solid waste cart fees will begin increasing on an annual basis on May 1, 2018. The increases to sanitary sewer and storm water fees will help pay for capital improvements to ensure safe and reliable service from sanitary sewer and storm water infrastructure. The increases to solid waste fees will cover the increasing costs of providing solid waste services.

• The sanitary sewer consumption fee and fixed fee will increase on May 1, 2018. This means that the consumption fee per 100 cubic feet will increase from $1.60 to $2.40, and the sanitary sewer fixed fee will increase from $1.50 to $2.25. Then on May 1, 2019, fees will begin increasing at an annual rate of 3 percent.

• Storm water fixed fees will increase on May 1, 2018. The base rate per Impervious Area Unit (hard surface area divided by 1,000 and then rounded) will increase from $1.45 to $1.89. Fees will then increase at an annual rate of 3 percent, beginning on May 1, 2019.
