McLean County Safe Passage Initiative
To further augment existing efforts to help those with opioid addiction, The Bloomington Police Department is pleased to collaborate with the McLean County Opioid Initiative to make a positive community impact in the fight against opioid addiction. The initiative includes both Bloomington/Normal hospitals and Chestnut Health Systems.
Any McLean County resident who enters the police station or approaches an on duty police officer asking for help with their opioid addiction will be screened for the Safe Passage Initiative program. Those screened into the program who are in possession of drugs, paraphernalia or equipment will not be charged criminally.
BPD hopes those who are struggling with opioid addiction will turn to local law enforcement without fear of being arrested and get help.
If you know someone who is battling drug addiction, please call local treatment agencies (309) 827-6026 or (309) 888-0993
