Amelia Buragas was elected to represent the citizens of Ward 4 in 2015. Prior to joining the Bloomington City Council, Amelia served as the Vice President of Evergreen Memorial Cemetery and as a member of the Bloomington Zoning Board of Appeals. Amelia also is on the board of the McLean County Museum of History.
Amelia grew up in McLean County and came home to practice law with her father at the Dorris Law Firm in Downtown Bloomington. Amelia is active in local and state legal associations, including the McLean County Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and Illinois State Bar Association. In addition to her law degree, Amelia has a master's degree in journalism and formerly worked as an editor at a national trade publication.
Amelia and her family live in the White Place National Historic District.
