In December 2011, the City Council voted to adjust the ward boundaries for the City of Bloomington in recognition of the growth of our city. After a period of public discussion and review of 23 different possible options, five new Odd-Numbered Wards were established in order to provide more effective representation of the population across all nine wards. As required by the U.S. Constitution, the City of Bloomington reconfigured the ward boundaries so each ward would include approximately 8,500 residents. Bloomington’s population was 76,610 in the 2010 Census.
