Job Title: Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts Volunteer
BCPA Volunteer Mission Statement: To assist in providing a superior patron experience through a knowledgeable, well trained volunteer work force.
Reporting to: Stacey Downey, Patron & Event Services Manager and BCPA Staff

When do we need volunteers and what type of events do we need them for?
Volunteers are needed to usher at all BCPA Mainstage events, which typically occur during the evening. Volunteers will also be needed to staff our Family Series performances and related pre-show activities. Ushers are needed at all Spotlight Student Series which are held for school children during the week, with performances in the mornings or early afternoons.

Ushers are also needed for a number of other activities at the BCPA.
Time Required: Volunteers should expect to work at least one shift per month, but more regular shifts are usually required. The average shift ranges from three to six hours. A mandatory annual training session will be required of all volunteers in order to work at BCPA events. Training is offered in August. The session includes information on emergency evacuation and medical procedures, as well as general usher training.
Length of Commitment: Ongoing over the course of 12 months. Annual training is required of all volunteers.

Job Responsibilities: There will be a number of different assigned areas in which all volunteers will be required to have training.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Tour Guide - The BCPA is looking for a small group of specially trained volunteer docents to conduct tours of the newly renovated Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts. These tours will be based on the historical aspects of the building and will include information on the extensive services that are able to be offered to BCPA patrons because of the recent renovation. Amount of time volunteered: varied, but averaging approximately four hours per month. Hours: daytime hours, possibly night and weekend hours. Training will be approximately 10 hours in the month of August, details TBA.
Community Marketing Outreach Volunteers - The Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts is looking for volunteers who would be willing to help represent the BCPA during various community events. Responsibilities might include selling tickets, handing out season brochures, staffing information tables at community events and interacting with the community on behalf of the BCPA. Amount of time volunteered: varies. Hours: Primarily evenings and weekends.
Marketing Distribution Volunteers - We also have a need for volunteers who would be willing to help distribute posters, fliers and other information on a monthly basis to various locations and businesses in the Bloomington area. A specific route and materials will be assigned to each volunteer. Amount of time volunteered: 2-8 hours a month. Hours: requires some daytime hours.
Family Event Volunteers - Community Engagement is looking for a team of volunteers to assist with the planning and staffing of enrichment activities that take place in the lobby prior to BCPA Family Events. Amount of time volunteered: varies, but approximately 4 hours per month. Hours: Sunday afternoons.
Office Task Force Volunteers - The BCPA is looking for volunteers to help out in the office with mailings, putting together teacher packets and assist with other office projects. Amount of time volunteered: varied, but usually about six hours per month. Hours: daytime hours.
