The original Davis Lodge was dedicated in 1932 in honor of H.O. Davis, editor of the Daily Pantagraph. The site of the lodge overlooks the widest expanse of Lake Bloomington and has been the site of various concessions and restaurants over the years. The original lodge had two huge fireplaces which required 50 tons of stone to construct. These fireplaces still remain and provide a warm atmosphere for the City's rental guests.

Inside the lodge is a large central meeting room with a capacity for 175 persons, a kitchen facility with plenty of countertop space, and a commercial refrigerator and stove. Folding tables and chairs are provided.
