Junior Zookeepers Junior Zookeepers is a unique, mulit-level program for jr. high & high school students who are interested in learning about animals and the way zoos work. Students begin with classroom training & eventually become volunteers! There are both school year and summer components to the program; at the advanced levels, students participate in educational activities in October - April, then volunteer at the Zoo during the summer season. Students can be Junior Zookeepers through the summer following high school graduation. The Junior Zookeeper program is great for students who are looking for experience in working with people, learning leadership and time-management skills, and getting some quality time with animals. To begin Junior Zookeepers, students who are in fifth grade or higher will attend an informational meeting in early March in order to apply for a space in beginner summer camp. The 2009 application process is complete. Meeting dates are published in January of each year.
