Jim Fruin

Jim was re-elected to the City Council in April, 2007 to fill a newly- created 9th Ward, representing east and north/east Bloomington.  He served as 3rd Ward alderman from 1995 to 2003.  Jim was a member of the Bloomington Planning Commission from 1989 to 1995, serving as chairman from 1993 to 1995.

Jim is a life long resident of Bloomington/Normal, having graduated from Central Catholic High School and Illinois State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  He has obtained several Insurance Education designations, including Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant.  He is also a 1997 graduate of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program.  Jim is employed by State Farm Insurance in the Human Resources Department.

He has been very involved in several leadership positions with Illinois State University, the University of Iowa Parents Association, Holy Trinity Church and Schools, Central Catholic High School, the McLean County Economic Development Council, and the Community Health Care Clinic.  Jim also volunteers in the Emergency Room at OSF St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Jim and his wife have three adult sons.  His personal interests include running, playing golf and travel.
