Mission Statement The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department exists to maintain and enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Bloomington by providing park, recreation and leisure opportunities through organized programs and by acquiring, developing, maintaining, preserving, and enhancing recreation areas, open spaces, and facilities, in the most cost-efficient manner.
Location The Bloomington Parks & Recreation Department is located at 115 E. Washington St. on the first floor of the Government Center. Public parking is available along the streets in marked areas and in the lot marked for Government Center parking located directly east of the Government Center. Enter the building from Washington or Front streets.
The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department is located in Central Illinois and serves a community nearing 65,000. The Department is composed of four divisions working jointly to accomplish its mission. These divisions are Parks, Recreation, Golf and the Miller Park Zoo. The Department maintains over 1100 acres of land including 44 park sites and 3 golf courses. |
