Friends of the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts (Friends of the BCPA) has announced their kick-off event benefiting the Bloomington Creativity Center Capital Campaign to take place Saturday, October 5th at the BCPA. A fundraising effort that will provide a specialized arts space for art classes, workshops, and rehearsals for people of all ages. The Capital Campaign will renovate, equip, and furnish the 32,000 square foot former medical building as the Creativity Center. This new Creativity Center will showcase a black box theater, multi-use classrooms, a dance studio, music studios, a recording studio, office space for BCPA staff and local arts organizations, and gallery space for local artists.

At ArtGasm, Welcome to Wonderland, guests will be entertained by the nonsense of the Caterpillar, the absurdity of the Mad Hatter, and the ruthlessness of the Red Queen while being transported to the world of Lewis Carroll’s wonderland.

With an excitement of amusement, Illinois State University Gamma Phi Circus will create madness with their jugglers, stilt walkers, and contortionists. Guests will also browse an art exhibit by Bloomington-Normal artists, eat delectable hors d’oeuvres in the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, drink locally brewed beer from Lil Beaver Brewery, bid on silent auction items in the Red Queen’s Court and even have their caricature drawn.

Come dressed in costume as your favorite Alice in Wonderland character or in cocktail attire! To attend ArtGasm, Welcome to Wonderland, tickets can be bought at for $50 a person. Sponsored by Fox and Hounds Salon and Day Spa, Classic Rock WEXG 98.3, and Lil Beaver Brewery.

Founded in 2014, The Friends of the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts’ (Friends of the BCPA) mission is to create an environment where all forms of artistic expression are encouraged and appreciated in an effort to contribute to the quality of life in the community.
