Post Date:12/04/2019 12:29 PM

Holiday cheer is not in short supply during the holidays in Downtown Bloomington. Coming off the heels of Small Business Saturday and the annual Withers Tree Lighting, these dedicated small business owners are working to create new and exciting sales and specials for families and shoppers to enjoy!

Patrons can expect to see some of this hard work pay off during the much anticipated First Friday Once Upon a Holiday event on December 6th from 5pm-8pm. Live window vignettes will feature a range of holiday favorites like The Grinch, Santa, and even knitting elves. Twenty-eight business have partnered with the City of Bloomington Economic Development Department, Downtown Bloomington Association, and the Around the Corner Artist Group to host this exciting First Friday event. Businesses will extend their hours and will have plenty of sales, samples, treats, and cheer available to anyone who stops by.  Santa, sponsored by the NAACP and Fox & Hounds Salon and Day Spa, will be making an appearance in the Monroe Center Lobby. People are encouraged to bring their cameras to snap a picture! In addition to Santa being available on December 6th at the Monroe Center, Fox & Hounds Salon and Day Spa will host a variety of Santas from the 6th through the 21st on Fridays from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday’s from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

To continue this holiday event-packed weekend, the Bloomington-Normal Jaycees 90th Annual Christmas Parade will be held on December 7th. The parade theme is based on the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas and will begin at 10 am at Kingsley Jr. High in Normal and will end in Downtown Bloomington at the McLean County Museum of History for their traditional Christmas at the Courthouse event!

Follow Santa inside for more fun! Christmas at the Courthouse is a free public event held from 11 a.m.  until 4 p.m. Enjoy live holiday music and more inside the Museum!

Later in December, patrons can enjoy the Annual Holiday Farmer’s Market at the Grossinger Motors Arena on 12/21 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. This expanded Holiday Farmer’s Market will have everything you need to make a holiday meal for your family and everything you need to check off your holiday gift lists, and Santa will be available for photos!
