Man Arrested for Gun Charges after Short Standoff


Bloomington, IL – On Monday, 12/23/2019, at approximately 7:52 p.m., Bloomington Police officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Butchers Lane in reference to an armed subject call for service. It was reported that Franklin Sandoval, 34, of Bloomington, was armed with a firearm and that he allegedly pointed a firearm at a juvenile family member during an argument while another juvenile was present inside of his residence. The juveniles had fled the residence after the incident.


Officers surrounded the residence and attempted to make contact with Sandoval for over an hour. Officers successfully reached Sandoval on the phone and convinced him to come outside. Sandoval exited without resistance and he was arrested without injury. Officers seized several firearms and ammunition as part of the arrest.


Franklin C. Sandoval was arrested for:

     - Unlawful use of weapons / rifle barrel less than 16 inches / shotgun barrel less than 18 inches

     - Aggravated assault / deadly weapon

     - Possess firearm without valid F.O.I.D. card / eligible

     - Illegal possession of ammunition / no FOID


No bond information is available at this time. Sandoval is being held at the McLean County Jail. There were no injuries and no other information will be released at this time.
