Scott Black began his public service representing the West Side on the McLean County Board in March of 2010 and served on that body until May of 2013. In April of 2013, he was elected to Bloomington City Council representing Bloomington’s Historic Northwest Side.
Originally from Mt. Prospect, Illinois, Scott moved to Bloomington in 2006 at the start of his college career at Illinois Wesleyan University. He graduated from that institution in 2010 with a degree in Political Science.
As someone with a lifelong passion for local government, Scott enjoys chatting with residents about local and national issues. These conversations inspired him to host two community forums aimed at engaging community members with their elected officials. In 2011, Scott was selected as one of McLean County’s 25 under 25 group. This organization recognizes and honors community leaders under 25 years old for their work and dedication to the community.
Scott is employed by Afni, Inc since June of 2010. Currently, he works in the Human Resources Department. On top of his public and professional commitments, Scott actively gives back to the community. He’s been active in raising funds and building connections for the United Way, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys running, swimming and cooking.
